Adult/Teen Solo and Teams


Amateur sculptors put the final touches on their works during SandFest 2016. Amateur sculptors put the final touches on their works during SandFest 2016. Register and pay online at www.texassandfest.org by April 14. Open to the first 75 solos/ teams to register.

Categories

Adult Solo - Ages 18+

Adult Team - Up to 6 team members, ages 18 and over (may include youths).

Teen Solo - Ages 13-17

Teen Teams - Up to 6 team members, ages 13-17 (may not include adults).

Plot sizes:

Teen, 8 x 8

Adult solo & Teams

12 x 12

Competition Hours:

8:30. – 4:30 p.m.

Registration fees

Teen Solo: $20 (includes one admission wrist band)

Teen Teams: $75 (includes wristbands for each registered team member - limit 6)

Adult Solo: $35 (includes one admission wrist band)

Adult Team: $100 (includes wristbands for each registered team member -limit 6)

Prizes: Awarded to 1st-3rd place in each category

Winners will be announced at 5p.m. Saturday in the Music Tent.

Rules:

• Participants are encouraged to register and pay online by April 14. Registration will also be done during check in listed below

• All participants must check in prior to contest time. Friday 3-6:30 p.m. at the North Entrance in Volunteer/Vendor Check-In tent, Saturday 7:30 -8 a.m. at South Entrance tent. Entrance wristbands will be available for purchase for those not registering to compete.

• All work must be done within designated plot.

• Only sand from within designated plot may be used.

• Decorative materials may be used but all non-biodegradable materials must be moved immediately after judging.

• Nothing may be added to the sand except water. (No paint, flour, sugar, cement, clay, adhesives, etc.).

• No power tools may be used inside plots.

• Only registered sculptors are allowed inside their own plots.

• Holes must be filled, and trash and equipment removed before the judging.

Judging

Decisions of the judges are final.

Judging based on

•Originality, imagination

•Degree of technical difficulty

• Artistic merit
